Chunky Paragraph Character Evaluation: George

George is the type of guy that goes with the famous saying, "small but terrible." He's a bit of an obnoxious character, and often uses the word "damn" in most of his sentences. "... 'Jes' a little stretch.' God damn near four miles, that's what it was!... Too God damn lazy to pull up. Wonder he isn't too damn good to stop in Soledad at all... I bet it was more than four miles. Damn hot day." George is a bit under stress, since his friend Lennie, has gotten them into trouble. And since then, they've been trying to get a new job somewhere else. "Jes' wanted to feel that girl's dress... Jes' wanted to pet it like it was a mouse... Well how the hell did she know you jus' wanted to feel her dress? She jerks back and you hold on like it was a mouse." He's basically had enough of Lennie's wrong-doings, and he wants to get rid of him, but he knows that Lennie wouldn't be able to do anything on his own. So he continues to take care of him, as well as because he made a promise to Aunt Clara to take care of Lennie.

George can be a bit harsh on Lennie sometimes, and Lennie doesn't really do anything about it but take it in. "All the time somethin' like that, all the time. I wisht I could put you in a cage with about a million mice an' let you have fun." George has the characteristics of what a guy like Lennie should have, while Lennie has the characteristics of what a guy like George should have. It's like they switched roles. Most of the time, George does all the speaking, since Lennie can barely speak for himself. "Then why don't you let him answer? What you trying to put over?" "Oh! I ain't saying he's bright. He ain't. But I say he's a God damn good worker..." The way George handles tough situations are different from when Lennie handles things. George rants in tough situations while Lennie just waits until they find a solution. George is basically a sassy and bossy kind of guy, that likes to be right and be in charge of everything.

The person would be slower to learn other skills like acting around other people and getting dressed. A Coney Island Life Final Draft

Our life is kind of like a game. There's obstacles along the way and if you die, it's game over. Many people take life for granted, and other people think they don't belong. Sometimes, we do things that can jeopardize our lives. Even if life is unfair sometimes, we learn to get through it to the very end. This talks about how a person is going through a difficult time in their life, and they're just waiting for their time to come. While waiting for their time to come, they choose to do adventurous things they haven't done till they run out of time. "A Coney Island Life" by James L. Weil helps people to understand to "live life to the fullest," that life is precious, and you never know when it'll be taken away from you.

When you don't let yourself have fun in life, you could be missing out on a lot, and you can never take that back. In the poem, Weil writes, "And seen my helium hopes break skyward without me," and it can remind people of the dreams they have, but they don't come true, so they just leave it behind. It also makes people think of when someone asked them what they wanted to be when they grew older when at the time they were a little kid, and they tell them something that's a bit unrealistic so it doesn't come true. Also, when he wrote, "Now my arms filled with dolls I threw so much for" in the carnival sense, it means that the games are really simple, but it's actually really hard to succeed with. It's almost kind of like a rip off in a way. That's what life is kinda like. It's unfair, but you just try to push through it all. Even though some things make you wanna give up, there's always a happy ending when you succeed.

You can't really predict how long you can live and when you'll pass away, so you have to make the choices for yourself if you want to overcome your fears and do some of your things on your bucket list. When Weil writes, "I take perhaps my last ride on this planet-carousel," it means that he feels like his life might be taken away at this time, so he's trying to do all that he can to have fun with his life. He was trying to say that you won't know when your next opportunity will be to accomplish something until the time comes. He also states, "How many more times round I have to catch that brass-ring sun before the game is up." When he stated this, It probably meant that he's wondering how much longer he has on planet Earth until he passes away. Like the previous paragraph, he's trying to do everything he can before he passes away.

Letting life sink in and have fun at occasionally isn't all too bad, because we need to learn how to live in reality and not play on the safe side every time. Throughout this poem, the author tries to replicate what it feels when someone is so close to their point in life, that they want to make the most of it. This poem written through metaphors and similes, he makes it relate to the success, the obstacles, and limitations life has to offer. Live each day as if your life had just begun, because life is short and you only get one chance out of it. If you want something you've never had, then you've got to do something you've never done. Enjoy the little things in life. Because one day, you'll look back, and you'll realize they were the big things. If you live life to the fullest, you'll have more happy memories. And when your time actually comes, you wouldn't have to say that you didn't do what you wanted before your time arrived.
